The GDTP 2018 Annual Conference was held in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, on January 26, 2018.The conference was organized by the Energy Systems Engineering Specialized Committee of the China Energy Research Society and co-organized by the Zhejiang Cooperation Center for Climate Change Response and Low-carbon Development, Huzhou Municipal Development and Reform Commission,\u00a0Institute for Global Decarbonization Progress (iGDP), and\u00a0Green Finance Committee of the China Society for Finance and Banking. The conference received\u00a0strong support\u00a0from the Energy Foundation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Under the theme of \u201cNew Approaches to China\u2019s Low-carbon Transition,\u201d the conference reviewed the progress of local low-carbon development during the mid-term period of the 13th Five-Year Plan and discussed urban carbon peaking pathways and China\u2019s medium- and long-term development strategies.<\/span> Nearly 100<\/span>\u00a0participants\u00a0<\/span>from home and abroad<\/span>\u00a0traveled to Huzhou despite a once-in-a-decade snowstorm. Despite the severe weather, experts and representatives remained committed to\u00a0<\/span>contributing insights and recommendations for China\u2019s green and low-carbon development.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p><\/section><\/section><\/section><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

The conference was moderated by Zhang Xiliang, Chair of the\u00a0Energy Systems Engineering Specialized Committee\u00a0of the China Energy Research Society and Director of the Institute for Energy, Environment and Economy at Tsinghua University.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>In his keynote speech, Professor Zhang introduced the latest progress in the development of China\u2019s carbon market.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/section><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/section>

At the conclusion of the conference, moderator Zhang Xiliang announced that the 5th GDTP Annual Conference would be held in Shandong Province.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
